Rhythm of the People

THE MUSIC THAT SHAPED A NATION

Travel through the communities where Black American music was born, discovering how generations of artists transformed African traditions into the sounds that shaped a nation—and inspired the world.

Where the Music of a People Became the Sound of a Nation

Music has always been more than entertainment—it has been a language of faith, freedom, resilience, and identity.

Rhythm of the People traces the evolution of Black American music through the communities that gave it life. From the sacred spirituals of Fisk University to the soul of Memphis, the blues of the Mississippi Delta, and the birth of jazz in New Orleans, this journey reveals how generations of Black musicians transformed African traditions into one of the world's greatest cultural legacies.

Over nine unforgettable days, you'll explore legendary landmarks, meet local historians and musicians, experience iconic music venues, and discover the enduring connection between music, history, and community.

This journey doesn't simply celebrate the music—it tells the story of the people who created it.
